Have you always run your current business?
I was 6 years old when I learned how to sew. I’ve even been professionally trained for the sewing industry! But, I worked as an Accountant as my profession for many years. In 2010, when my accounting position ended, I decided it was time for me to do something with my sewing passion. That’s when “GoGo Glam Household Goods” was created.
It’s named as a memorial for my sister who passed away from brain cancer. Her name was Gloria. My Dad had given her the nickname “GoGo” when she was learning to walk. She kept the nickname until she passed away as an adult. This is for you GoGo!
What’s your favorite or least favorite vegetable?
GoGo Glam started with my Gardening Apron and my Patio Table tablecloth. They’re my favorite, but I also like my tablecloths for picnic tables, my sets of placemats and matching table runners and my mitt hot pad.
What’s your favorite thing to get from other vendors at the market?
My favorite things at the market are the beautiful flowers, the variety of fresh vegetables and pure maple syrup.
What question do people not ask you at the market that you wish they did?
Why do I use mostly linen and cotton fabrics for the products that I create?
Do you have a favorite market memory?
My favorite market memory was the day that it was raining like crazy when we were setting up and then like magic, when it was time to open the market, the rain went away, the sun came out and it was a beautiful day!
What’s the best advice you’ve gotten about farming / your business?
Don’t give up on your passion!
If you could have any superpower, what would it be, and why?
A never ending supply of energy. Then I could get my long “to do list” completed faster.
What do you do when you’re not doing work for your farm / business?
I still do accounting on a part time basis. I also do alterations and custom sewing for people.
For fun, I like to cross country ski in the winter and go sailing in the summer.
