Have you always run your current business?
I have always made body care for myself, friends and family using natural plants, food ingredients, and essential oils. My husband and I started bodylish in 1999, before having kids, but it has been a part of our lives since then. I now run the business full-time, with a lot of help from Jay.
What’s your favorite or least favorite vegetable?
My favorite are mushrooms. I love food and don’t have a least favorite.
What’s your favorite thing to get from other vendors at the market?
As above, I love food and am so impressed by the food trucks at the markets. I never leave hungry! My next favorite are the cheeses and fresh eggs. Yummmm.
What question do people not ask you at the market that you wish they did?
How quickly should I use this? or Why do your products have a shelf-life? It’s because our products are food-grade and freshly made. We only use natural ingredients and preservatives, which means it’s NOT a Twinky and it won’t last forever (sorry Hostess!). It’s best when fresh, so use it up as soon as you can.
Do you have a favorite market memory?
One of my favorite markets started with heavy rain. At about 11:30 the skies cleared and it was a super fun and busy market with clog dancing music and rainbows!
What’s the best advice you’ve gotten about your business?
Follow your bliss.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be, and why?
To be able to turn on sunshine/rain at will. I’m working on it …
What do you do when you’re not doing work for your business?
Garden, walk in nature, eat good food and taking a long baths.
