Did you know that Neighborhood Roots is a non-profit organization led by a board of volunteer directors? We are a working board of directors, who support our Executive Director and market staff for Fulton, Kingfield, and Nokomis Farmers Markets via administrative support, volunteering during the markets, and fundraising. Togther we support local farmers, promote vibrant community and locally owned businesses, and affect important changes in food and agriculture policy. We are some of these markets’ biggest fans, and we’re looking for a few more board members to jump in and help out!
Board members are expected to contribute a minimum of 5 hours per month, by attending board meetings and special events, by supporting organizational administrative tasks, and by volunteering to support operations at the farmers markets. Read more about the role and apply here.
We are currently accepting applications of interest via this form on a rolling basis through October 2021 to fill open spaces on this year’s board (through December 2021); in November we begin the process to fill vacancies in the next calendar year (one year terms). We are especially interested in hearing from those who bring experience with nonprofit finance and fundraising.
We are committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where diversity is valued, supported and celebrated to benefit our entire organization. Women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, people of color, and people from indigenous communities are strongly encouraged to apply.
